Engineer's + Writer's Blog - #1

IT Engineers today.
They do back breaking labour. The upper back is very strong....About 8 to 10 hours of staring at the same screen, in the same position.

Some think they are not that great. After all, there's always another engineer who's better than them.
Some of them are truly exceptional.
Internally, they think highly of themselves - under the mask of politeness, they are weak at o(1), good at typing fast, vocally critical to the wrong people, and excel at faking it till they don't make it.

Imposter Syndrome: A phrase that IT engineers can use to justify being an imposter, because they are one, but it hurts to grow.
This is symptomatic of a chronic disease - Imposter Selectivitis.
With this disease, they start thinking they're the real deal, and can no longer see the greatness in others.
At the same time, if they are not the real deal, they use the phrase Imposter Syndrome because it's ok to feel like an imposter, even if you're actually bad at your job.
Hence, selectivitis - from the latin word 'selectus'.
So while Imposter Syndrome becomes the undocumented disease of Imposter Selectivitis, the victim continues to suffer from these symptoms:
1. Unwillingness to learn, or grow as an engineer, coder, or IT professional.
2. Desire to play the game, as a substitute for learning, instead of a practical necessity due to certain disadvantages you may have.
3. You can't pass the same interview problems you give others, but you think you are better.
4. You are critical of others, even when you don't have the evidence to show for it. Then, you cry foul when proven wrong.
This may not apply if you are genuinely scared for your life, and hence, don't speak up in the office.
Or, there's no point in speaking up, because you will be fired, or you risk retaliation.
Or, you think you are not great, because others are.
Terms and conditions apply.
This is not an official diagnosis - please consult a leetcode hard near you.
As long as you don't criticize them, their code, the way they handle their profession, they won't get violent.
Once you do criticize them, be prepared for war.

Their perception makes them better than the average (non-IT) laborer....and they know it.

They like to party - but, nothing local. They only use imported fun. Only laborers (the ones without a computer) live life simply.

Feminism, professional ethics and equality are important.
Unlesss President Trump is elected - then, ethics are not important, because jobs matter. Feminism makes sense, but only great men and women can do it.
Why question inequality, when there is a risk of retaliation?

In Conclusion
Coolies are uneducated, work very hard, party a lot, and are simple minded.

Engineers are well educated (most of the time), work equally hard (sometimes), party a lot, think highly of themselves, judge others as being inferior, and come up with smart ways of outsmarting, to continue the flow of cash.

My life experiences.
In addition, I have said what people needed to hear, so I can continue earning money. Come 2023, I decided to stop doing so.
That being said, I have still held onto my integrity, and how I see the world. That didn't go too well - sure.
But it's time people start accepting reality, instead of becoming obstacles to other people's growth, either professionally or personally.
This is where I draw the line.

If this doesn't apply to you, thank you for being a great developer.
I'm looking for a role, please interview me. My documentation will be more formal, with pg-13 jokes, only.
