Weekly Update - June 28, 2024
Novel
I increased the word count, more words are needed to fit the scope.
I know it's draft I, but the word count is something that needs to be kept in mind at the publication level.
I like to think ahead....
If what I am writing is more than what a book on a bookshelf can handle, it's a good sign to break down scope, change medium (into serials, for example) or reduce pacing.
From what I understand, it's normal for fantasy books to be longer, since there's an expectation of magic.
As such, I think readers are fine to settle in while the writer works very hard to setup the world, or characters.
But it's also a good thing to keep words at an absolute minimum, which in turn keeps the plot tight, and more fun.
For a good example of clean, concise and well-edited writing, check this blog post.
It's my article on science building - I am pretty sure the world's #1 editor got a chill.
I am known for my words, not my grammar.

That's good.
